cap ---> silicone

I have a cap that is starting to grow into the silicone in the corner of my tank. I can't imagine it sticking very well to it (they don't stick to glass very well in my experience) but I'm wondering if I should be worried that when I eventually move the cap that it will try to pull the silicone out of the seam. Any thoughts?

I would think you could cut it as close as you could to the silicone when you go to move it so you could end with a frag of it in that spot and cut it back as needed. As far as it sticking to the silicone, in an established tank, the silicone gets covered with various growth of marine organisms so they could stick it unlike glass that is cleaned. If the glass was covered with coraline, that would be a different story, cause it would stick to that.

I would frag it back. Caps will stick well to glass. I have one in my tank that I can't get off the glass (even with a razor). I would be worried that when you went to remove it, it could lead to problems.

GET IT OFF!...Been there / done that!
Do you by any chance need a tank that leaks about half way up at the seam, I happen to have one Really, it will work it's way through / under the silicone, and then the end is near.
