Captive bred Hawaiian cleaner wrasse

This is a bit dated but no one seems to have posted this so I will:

Wild caught Hawaiian cleaners have a reputation of not doing well in aquaria. These have been reared on prepared foods! This absolutely blows me away. This cleaner fish is absolutely gorgeous and had wanted to keep for a while (but never tried buying one due to the reputation and lack of availability) so this development is absolutely exciting.

Here's a video of the young ones in hatchery:

I didn't know this! Thank you for sharing - I've always wanted a cleaner wrasse, but have been super reluctant to get a wild-caught one due to their poor survival rates (and important ecological niche).

I think the Hawaiian Cleaner Wrasse is the prettiest of the Cleaner Wrasses. Too bad they're considered near impossible to keep in captivity. It looks like the CB guys are easier to feed, which is a huge plus.

I haven't seen any pop up on Diver's Den yet, but I'll definitely pick it up if I ever come across one.

Thanks for sharing

Always wanted one, but I chose not to due to the mortality rate.

I want one of the captive bred..

I have seen the wild caught ones twice in LFS. they are even more captivating in person than in pictures or video.

Thank you for sharing. I'm excited about the past years developments in SW captive breeding, especially the yellow tangs and now the cleaner wrasses.

LFS by me has one of the captive bred ones in one of their display tanks. Pretty amazing fish. Would love to have a chance to buy these one day. From what the LFS owner tells me, there won't be more CB ones produced again any time soon. From what I was told the larvae were unknowingly collected while collecting larvae from another species and they noticed some of the fry looked different as they were growing and they turned out to be cleaners.

here's mine(its not captive bred)...I have it almost a month and it doesn't eat flakes or pellets, but its eating all the small meaty foods...
