Carberryi Anthias

How are they doing?

I've got some dispars in QT and am contemplating whether to treat and with what.

Prazipro would be easy enough.

Wonder if it's worth hypo for a full treatment course?

thanks for asking! they are great!

i've been feeding them arctipods and live tigger pods and they LOVE them both, which is great.

some pics :)

beauties!

moved to DT.

they look to be in great shape. i see a little squabbling between the two that i worry could be males. i have been hoping that one is a male which i could clearly see him being dominant and a slightly smaller one i hope is just a sub-male? do they do that in this species?

anyways there was a little mouth to mouth action going on early this morning. has stopped, the 3 are swimming peacefully for the last few hours. could this be a bit of social structuring or do you think it's a problem? thanks for input.

good to hear they're all doing well. what all are you feeding them on now and what do they eat most aggressively?

i have an order of 5 from LA, but not sure why they havent sent it to me yet, when it shows they have it in stock. They have sent my other fish from the same order.

hm... most aggressively? they attack reef nutrition arctipods, rod's fish eggs, rod's original recipe and cyclopeee with substantial vigor! it's really fun because as soon as i feed those things the three of them dart around snapping up food!

it seems they werent previously fed flake or pellets but i've been introducing both and think they're catching on slowly. saw 1 eat some otohime pellets today! (i'm raising some baby clownfish so i got a set of otohime)

and live tigger pods. they devour those with gusto!

did your fish come in?

yeah they came in yesterday. i ordered 5 and one came in dead, which was credited. they're just doing a lot of hiding right now. very pretty fish though.

i really like these fish. wish i had ordered about 8 of them.

not eating pellets yet. its eating the hell out of mysis shrimp. will also eat rods food and rods eggs, i just tried it out to see if it'll eat.

...Just keep a cup of thawed food by the tank, and drop a tiny bit in every 20-30 minutes...

I have considered Anthias but have been worried about the need for frequent feeding. I mean how does anyone who is employed do this?? :eek1:

I have had great success with anthias and only feed 1 to 2 times daily. I've decided that my hang on back refugium/pod factory has been the key to success with these. A constant supply of food kind of negates the need for such frequent feedings.

I bought three from my friend and they are thriving in my tank. Eating pellets and mysis with equal gusto. I ordered three more Bartlett's anthias and they are living together peacefully. My anthias are feed 5-8times daily in small quantities.

Do you have a feeder or are you retired? :D

Although I am retired, I do have activities that take as much time as work. But I feed twice in the morning, once when I get home, and once before lights go out. I do have a feeder but don't use it on that tank.

:celeb3:

beauties!

That first picture looks like it's turning male to me :) awesome fish. you got the variation I got the first time that was sick :( my new ones are a bit different in color. They really are beautiful fish though! I just put mine into the DT after running prazipro for 7 days. they seem healthy and have a vigorous appetite for mysis shrimp.

I have a lyretail that I could easily feed twice a day. He eats like a pig.

The ignitus however only eats food that is very small in size and rarely gets enough in 2 feedings. For her requirements, the whole tank gets fed as much as I can which is between 2-4 times per day.

As a result, I have a fat bellus angel and a flasher wrasse whose belly is almost constantly swollen. :)
