I took my carbon offline and my tank has never looked better. I do about a 20 gallon water change every two weeks on a 60-65 gallon system.

I don't run carbon either and also do 20gallon every two weeks on 67 total gallons. Btw when I talked to Steve he thought 10 gallons per week is better then 20 every two better stability. The problem for me with that is I comepletly clean sump out and it hold about 15gallons. Then the other 5 is for siphoning the sandbed

You're fine with every two weeks imho. Or do one one week and another the next.
