Carbon Question

Is running carbon harmful to clams? I recently got a crocea, and I usually run black diamond, but I didnt know if the carbon would take anything out of the water that it needs.

I can't think of any reason carbon would harm a clam. I run carbon on a tank with a Crocea, and that seems to be going well.

Carbon removes organics, mostly waste compounds. Altough it will take up some nutrients. Clams are filter feeders so the carbon will remove toxics that the Clam would absorb.

I run 3 bags of fluval carbon all the time with a crocea and derasa clam. Although I do feed them marine snow each day. As clams grow to over 3" or so, I think they are more dependent on light than what is in the water from what I have read.
