carbon rinseing

can you rinse in tap water or does that hurt something? also how often do you guys change your carbon?

Rinse in tap water to remove dust. Change depends on your bioload, allelopathy level. I change mine every two weeks because I have a low bioload.

I have always rinsed my carbon with tap water. I change mine every 2 weeks to a month at the most. I am sure it still has life in it when I change it but keeping the carbon fresh keeps the water clear and avoids the risk of shocking the livestock with fresh carbon after the old is exhausted.
