Male has bulldog look and not eating, female has pink organ sticking out?

Tomoko, Is this a sign?

Thanks,
Monica

I suspect that your male is holding eggs if he has stopped eating suddenly. If you are seeing an ovipositor on the female, she might have just released her eggs.

I have been reading Frank Marini article on raising cardinals and he uses fake plants. I think I will try that for the first batch. They are easy to come by.

It is hard to tell if they are a pair buying from a lfs so I got several small ones from Tomoko and waited until two paired up. I then put them in a seperate tank.

Yes, I had mine for awhile and they were paired and breeding but I had to take the tank down that they were in. I hated to see them go. They were one of my favs. Good Luck with yours and I hope you end up with lots of babies. Ill hope in thr future I can gets some more

Congratulations! That was pretty fast, considering they were just tiny babies when you picked them up :)

By the way, it's easier on the babies to put a divider into the parent's tank or move the parents.

You may already know this, but babies will eat live bbs right away and in a few days you can start mixing tiny amount of frozen bbs or cyclopeeze into the live bbs. In two weeks, you don't have to hatch bbs any more. At least until the next batch comes;)

Oh lord, mine are just a couple of months behind. At least mine are still so little I don't have to worry for a while. :)
