Caribbean painted parrotfish

OK. Divers Den has this fish. This is the species they list. It is listed in fishbase as Midnight Parrotfish.

Scarus coelestinus

Here is a picture. Looks like a striped parrotfish, S. iseri.

Scarus parrots (quoyi, Caribbean princess etc.) typically are very hardy, stay under a foot and are perfectly appropriate aquarium fish (provided a big enough tank). The quoyi parrot is one of my all time favorite fish to keep :fun4:

It is really hard to find good info on the Caribbean parrotfish. I'ld love to hear from someone who has kept some of them.

I have talked to a marine biologist who told me that I'ld be best to steer clear of them because they all eat coral.

K&P Aquatics lists the Greenblotch Parrotfish, Sparisoma atomarium, as reef safe. Just not sure.

Ditto on Quoyis are my favorite saltwater fish. Best algae eating fish consuming more algae than a tang by far!
