CaribSea Tropic Isle Tahitian Moon Sand

i wouldnt use IMO, the size is too small. your sandbed needs to breath. as far as buffering it says it doesnt effect pH. have a great day.

has anyone heard that there is no buffering capacity with this type of sand?

That REALLY doesn't matter. If your PH drops down to the point that then EVERYTHING in your tank is already dead.

i have 20# of it in my 24g aquapod along with 20# of arag-alive sand. i had it black only but once i got my lr it ended up looking dirty so i mixed in 20# of live sand.

Ive got it in my nano & love the way it looks. The only thing is that it is so fine. If you use a mag float to clean the glass it will scratch the crap out of your tank if your not careful. It does get a little dirty but it gives you a reason to do a small water change.
