I'm thinking of keeping a green serpent star in my little fuge when I get it up and running. Has anyone had experience with keeping these guys and if so do they have any specific size/nutrient requirements?
I'd be concerned about the size of your fuge if you're calling it little. I have a friend who has one in his tank and he says its very close to being 1 foot across.
Well I've seen these things at my lfs and I know how big they get. I just want to know what the smallest size tank would be to keep one in. I mean they're starfish... They shouldn't need a lot of room to roam should they? From what I've read so far, they seem to just want to hide underneath the rock work. I haven't found a lot of info on keeping them so any input would be great.
What are you hoping to put in the fuge? I think that star may be at risk of consuming many of the creatures you may hope grow in there. While you may see them all curled up, I do believe they're nocturnal and probably do roam about at night more than you expect.
When I had one it would eat anything. I would hand feed it 2" x 1/4" chunks of frozen food. When I got rid of him he was almost 2' across. Don't worry about specific food just feed it whatever, just make sure it is a lot!
