Carpet spawned

My haddoni spawned yesterday in my tank(guessing its a male now). My question is what causes this? Obviously I know theres no real answer but two things happened yesterday and I didn't know if they may have contributed.

My carpet finally hosted my percuala about 1 hour prior to the event, and also I had a reduced and broken up light schedule due to the addition of some new frags yesterday.

My params are
ph 8.1-8.3
temp 80-81
trites 0
trates <5ppm
1.025

I guess for those of you that have had this happen in your tank, did any of these other contributers also happen on the same day or there abouts? Or does any of you have an idea.

In the 10+ years I have been keeping Haddonis, I have only had it happen once, and that was back in March. I am 99% sure that in my case it was stress related.

On a Saturday (( 3/14 )) I had to go into the hospital for a semi emergency surgery on my back. Because this was so unplanned I had my father top off my tank --- really isn't familiar with my tank. I believe that the tank wasn't topped off enough and the main pump ran dry. The water level in the tank itself was fairly normal, but the sump was darn near dry. When I got home from the hospital on a Thursday (( 3/19 )) the SG was 1.030 (( normally 1.026 )) and the temp was 70* (( normally 78-83 )). And I had lost my Potter's angel pair.

Anyways, I put in a new pump on Friday (( 3/20 )) and had to add a lot of water to the tank so that the pump wouldn't run dry, so the SG was dropped fairly quickly. That night my blue Haddoni (( also have a green one in that tank )) started to spawn, it lasted for about 45 minutes, and was pretty neat to watch. Nothing came from it, but to this day the Haddoni still doesn't look as good as it used to.

I managed to get a few pictures of the event;

FTS showing how cloudy the tank got. And you can see how the blue Haddoni trumpeted up during the event.

If I remember correctly, both males and females release their "stuff" into the water. It is possible that the anemone stressed out and spawned.

If you haven't already, a water change, running carbon, and skimming wetter will help with water parameters.

Was this in your 29 or 180g?

Todd- Thanks for chimming in! I remember you posting that exact info back when that happened you! I looked for that thread again just last night but couldnt find it. I feel it was prob stress then aswell. I had stopped my pump for about 15 min and when it started to happen I turned it back on to get the "stuff" flowing to the skimmer. So that, coupled with the lights, couldve been the culprit.
Nirv- I instantly did a water change and began skimming wet. I think I will refresh the bag of carbon that I have in there.

Would it be more beneficial or more stressful to do an additional waterchange tonight?
