Seems the place that used to sell super long usb cables for apex doesn't carry them anymore. Has anyone done a super long run of apex cable using cat5/6 and just soldering usb plugs on it? Seems like it should work.
Basically my apex brain is in my garage along with all my reef tank equipment. I am setting up a discus tank in my living room so I want to run a line across my ceiling and down the wall so I can connect an EB4 to my discus tank and then hook up a PM1 and BOB to the EB4 to monitor/control basic things in the tank.
I would also like to make it look clean by putting an rj45 jack on the wall next to the tank but not sure if splitting the run at the end would have some ill effects.
