The only thing about the Catalina Goby is it requires a cooler water temp than most people keep their tanks at. Don't quote me, but I think around 70-72 is optimal for them.
Catalina gobies are coldwater species. They are located off the coast of catalina. Catalina is an island close to Los Angeles. The water temperature in their natural habitat is 68 degrees. I have seen them kept in ranges of 66-73 degrees. They usually perch on rocks and dont move very much.
I live in LA and make trips to Catalina at least 10 times a year. We have them at our local cold water aquarium where I volunteer, and we keep that tank down at 60. I think that even the ones from Mexico should not be kept in a tropical tank really.
