Catalina Goby

Hi-
I have been looking at getting a catalina goby for a while now, but have a few questions. My tank is a 29g mixed reef setup. Several inhabitants will be shifting to other tanks shortly, and I noticed on your site it says they do well in small groups but may fight in a smaller tank. Would you guys recommend keeping 2 or 3 together in this tank, or is that too many? Their only other fish co-inhabitant will be a coral beauty angel, who is incredibly timid. My other question involves their husbandry. Your site lists 68-75 degrees as their ideal tank temp. I have seen elsewhere, however, that they are a coldwater species and should be kept in 50-60 degree water. Are they really ok in a tank around the 74 degree mark?

Thanks,
Ben

Pleaselaunchme,

Thank you for your post. Having three Catalina Gobies in a 29 gallon tank with your Coral Beauty should not pose a problem. For this fish, we would consider a small tank to be less than 10 gallons. There is some discussion as to the optimum temperature range for this fish. However, we recommend the fish be kept between 68 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and should survive and thrive at any temperature within that range.
