Catching and Reaquascaping Question

I really screwed up with my aquascaping and I'd like to fix it. I've had eels before (currently have a 2 1/2 foot zebra eel) so I should have known to place supporting rocks on the bottom of the tank before adding sand to a tank with a burrower in it - but, I didn't. My peacock has completely dug up the tank and there really isn't a good place for him to hide anymore. I really want to move him into a bucket take out most of the sand and reaquascape correctly.

The question is - did I read something about having trouble with them getting caught in nets? Can I just safely net him and place him in a bucket while reaquascaping? He's a little over 5" but his smashers have not grown back since I purchased him if that helps (which I'm imagining it does). He did molt once and has little tiny smashers, which I'm assuming don't exactly work yet. Any advice would be appreciated. I'd like to give him a better home as he's not able to completely hide his body right now.

Thanks.

I would try a clear plastic container first. See if you can get him into it to move to the bucket.
