Catching fish from a reef tank.

I have ich in the display tank and finally decided to setup a hospital tank to treat the fish. I was able to catch all of the fish out of my 75 gallon tank with ~ 80 lbs of live rock within 15 minutes and very minimal rock movement. Other than showing visible signs of ich all the fish were healthy and otherwise quite mobile.

The fish caught:

Yellow tang
2 false clowns
1 neon goby
1 black molly

I used large nets and a cheap red light from walmart. I turned off all other lights and had the red light above the tank. It was dim enough I had to let my eyes acclimate for a couple of minutes. The fish were basically blind at that point and very, very easy to catch. The easiest to catch were the clowns and the hardest was the yellow tang (no suprise).

I had put this off all day thinking it was going to be impossible but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. For those of you reluctant to treat your fish due to how hard they would be to remove it may not be as bad as you think at least in a small (4 foot) tank.

i agree, i did the same with my tank, all 4 fish, including a rather jumpy mandarin were out in 10 minutes. Dim red light works best
