hey, i've been having some trouble keeping my inverts alive since theing fish without removing rock red spotted pseudochromis my friend gave me keep eating them. i've been trying to catch him without disturbing my LR. any tips on how to do this? thanks

alright, your on an uphill battle, lemme tell ya................ i bought a purple psuedochromi and it definitly didnt get along with my 6-line, so i tried to catch it...... pretty much it took about 4 hours of waiting with a net (bent so that the head was at a 90 degree angle) and with some food in the net and just waited until the pseudo swam over it. took me about........ oh............ 537 tries to get him, but eventually i caught him and it was the greatest accomplishment in my life. seriously.

good luck

Good luck. I was trying to catch an angel fish in my tank. I left my net in the water for a couple days to let everything get used to it, thinking it would work. Well needless to say I had to take all but 4 rocks out of my tank to catch his little......nevermind. Since tearing into my tank, my nitrate levels have increased which I am getting under control with some water changes. My advice, if and I say IF you have to tear your rocks out, get a gravel filter and hit your sand bed real quick. If you can look under your tank the areas you need to watch out for will be black in color, if you stir this up it is the same as throwing a bomb in your tank. So clean those areas. Through this process my nitrates were off the chart, I vacuumed the sand I could get to and now things are lookin good. No deaths in the tank through this process. Good Luck!

you could try a cAqua Medic Fish Trap that uses bait and has a fishing line to close the box. This way there is less chance of teh fish noticing movement around the tank, or changes in shading

Try doing it before the lights go on, at night they are really slow and if they stay out in open water it is a lot eaiser to catch them. Good Luck

it sounds crazy but hooks work well for more agressive fish if traps don't work...

You can get a tiny barbless hook and bait it, or use something like a sabiki rig for bait fishing...

The hook is so small and it's barbless so it won't hurt the fish (less stress than chasing it all around).

Get a good sized container that you can submerge half way into the water. You do this when you feed so you drop the food into the container and after about a week they go into the container to get the food and at that point you simply lift it and the fish out. Very safe for the fish and easy for you, if you have a week to do it. That is how i catch fish. You probably already have a container at the house so there is no going out to buy a trap.
