Caught the little bugger!!!!!!

Well, he clicks really loudly, but I am afraid to put him back. I feel bad about killing him if he's harmless

hes harmless...a pistol shrimp they can form a symbiotic realtionship with some gobies..... put him back in if you didnt already do the dirty deed.....unless u cant stand the clicking their really cool

He went back in....hope he makes it. I fed the pods I had in the bowl to the fish....then about an hour later dumped the shrimp back in. They thought he was a huge pod. He made it to a rock and hid. I guess I won't know until I hear a click. My husband is pretty uninterested in my hobby, but was amazed that such a small creature could make such a loud noise. Thanks for all your help guys

They are common in Hawaii. When I lived there I had 2-3 in my tank and they sure do pop loud. They are a type of pistol shrimp and never seemed to do any damage in the 2+ years I had my tank up.

I've got a few little ones in my tank as well. That is, if the mantis I've been trying to catch hasn't gotten to them first! He's getting kinda courageous. He doesn't seem to shy away from me like he used to. He was stalking a couple of my damsels last night.
