I made the mistake of putting in my 55 when it was up and what a mistake!!!! It will over take your tank if you don't trim it even then it will be hard to get rid of once it seeds in the tank.
I keep it (along with several other macros) in my refugium and it will usually spread, so to be safe you would want to keep Tangs (I do!) or other herbivores to chow down on it. Otherwise, best not put it in your system.
I grew it for a couple of years. It choked out everything else in my fuge. I had read that it could release PO4 and harm a tank and got nervous. I kept it under 24/7 lighting, which is supposed to reduce the likelihood of that. I used to put it on feeding clips in my display and let yellow tang devour it.
I eventually got nervous about the potential problems that I'd read about and let chaeto over take it as I pruned it out of my fuge.
