anyway to get rid of Caulerpa if you cant get to it short of a tank breakdown?

Yes. Establish a refugium about 1/3 the size of your tank, light it 24/7, and help it along by getting, say, a tripneustes gratillis urchin [putty any loose rock]...I also found a purple tang that loved the stuff, and was a very good fish---but be sure before you buy one that you see him eat caulerpa. A scribbled rabbit will eat it, but will also eat green corals.
