I've had my CC star for about 2 months now and its seems to be doing well but I noticed the other day some kind of wound on its underside. At least that is what it appears to be.
This is not my star but this is what the wound looks like. help please.
The odd area at 10:30 if the star was a clock? Looks like maybe something stung it or ate it... What lives with it? How large a tank is it in? What is it eating?
I have a Condy Anemone, 3 Hermits, 1 Peppermint Shrimp and an Emerald Crab. The Crab is new. Only for about a week. I noticed the wound about 2 weeks ago. But now my Star is not moving and not eating. I found it laying on its back with its legs curled back 4 days ago. since then it hasnt moved for where I placed it.
That starfish is not safe around anemones.. and in condylactus's case vice versa as their sting is really strong. It's possible the condylactus stung the star when it tried to eat it.
Your star is likely dead. Get it out before it crashes the tank.
I'll go with the anemone got to it.
Have you been feeding it?
IMO a 10 is a bit smaller for non-brittle-star starfish.
All starfish need big tanks not just for food supply but size and water quality.
I'm not worried about the star nuking the tank more the condylactus killing everything and then dying and nuking. Unless you really really know what you're doing no anemone in anything smaller than 30 gal AND minimum of 6 months old tank.
