Center brace separating in a 300

So I noticed the center brace on my eurobraced 300 is separating away from from the main glass. I don't know when it happened but the bubble is about 3.5 inches on a 18 inch brace but it got larger over the last few months. I talked to a lfs owner and he mentioned that I can just add a 2-3 inch wide piece of half inch glass under the current brace (so in essence I would have 2 braces on the front glass w silicone connecting the top brace and front glass to the new piece.

The other option is to razor the silicone out between the brace and glass as much as I can and resilicone w black silicone. This is better looking but also more work and more possibility that I won't get all of it out since I don't want to pull the back glass silicone out .
Tank dimensions are 96/32/23 and I bought it used so I don't know the age of it. It's made by leemar

If you're dead set on keeping the aquarium, sandwich the old brace with two pieces of glass, the bottom bumping up to the front glass (if that's the front of the aquarium) and the top piece going all the way to the front of the glass. This will make a complex joint surface that should be stronger than the original.

im not in a position to replace it at the moment. I was thinking that while your suggestion is a good one, would just one piece of glass be enough if placed under the brace? Obviously this isnt ideal but at this point, the only ideal solution would be a reseal of the brace properly by a professional / something I dont have access to.
