center brace

Hi i have a question how strong is that center brace on aquariums because i have two 400 watt metal halides and i didnt want it to melt and break.

It will melt or fail very quick if one of the lights is over it. Plenty of tanks have failed from this exact cause.

its not directly over it but the light does shine on it very brightly and the lights throw alot of heat off do you think im in trouble or what would you do.

Is this a 48" long tank? If so, I've seen a few 48" tanks running (2) 400's without issue

If I were going to try it, then running a case fan along the brace would help the brace cool. Would be a pretty cheap diy & could hook to the same timer as the halides.

Some remove the center brace & replace with 1/4" acrylic. Would allow the light to pass thru & that should mean less heat.

no its a 72 inch tank with the one center brace i dont think i want to cut it out then replace it maybe i can do a light mover or something.

As I mentioned I've seen 48" tanks with (2) 400's. You should have no problems as long as the lights are spaced properly for a 72" tank.
