Centerbrace broke, need help

wow some of you guys got a little harsh.

I don't have any contact info on who is making them, but I have seen a tank at my lfs with a replacement center brace that is made from stainless. It came with some gusset like brackets that are mounted to the front and back of the tank with small bolts, and the stainless rod drops in the bracket. Looks pretty clean and doesn't block light like the factory brace did.

staticx... do I need to remind you that YOU were the focus of one of the dumbest things many of us have ever heard? Your the guy who had wood custom cut at Home Depot and then argued with the manager because YOU measured wrong and did not want to pay for it. Your the guy who bragged about it and tried to frame home depot as an evil corporation trying to screw you. Your the guy has taken a few cheap shots and me and others even AFTER we gave you the benefit of the doubt and moved past your ignorance regarding the HD incidient and threads.

Every time you post something as RUDE and stupid as what you did in this thread... you confirm and reaffirm our opinion of you as being childish and clueless. Was it not just a few threads ago that you (unprovoked) attacked me in a similar manner, only to end up on the losing side of the exchange? Learning from experience is not your strong suit I guess... manners and thoughtful responses neither?

Your post was wholly uncalled for. The method BIGZERO used may not be the greatest idea, but your post was outright rude and certainly not helpful in any way.... wow!

I cut my brace out of my 48 bow because it block the light. I took some heavy duty fishing string (rated at 100lbs) and drilled two small holes on each side of the brace and ran two of the fishing lines from the front to the back and tied it using a snell knot. In your case you could probably just drill a few holes on each side of your exsiting brace without getting up back like I did and tie it the same way.

The good thing is the fishing doesn't rot, it's thin, it is very strong and is clear. I've had it on for 6 months and I using a hang on skimmer and hang on overflow and have had no problems what so ever.

Hope this helps.

good luck.

i would suggest you replace that line with some s/s leader.

i wouldnt call what youve done as dumb. ive seen some pretty dumb things done and have had to possibly save a few lives because of what they did. when they did it, it seemed pertfectly ok to them.

some s/s leader maybe, at least. and statix has a point. back up those holes, some how.

better yet, place two better struts at thirds.
