here is a tank I am filtering with about 2 gl chaeto. There is no skimmer, denitrator, UV, chemical except 3" SB and approx. 30# LR.
The sand bed is maintained by a Tiger pistol shrimp/yellow goby male&female.

How often do you perform water changes?
So far about once a week 20% but I am going on week and half now just to see how it does. Would be nice once a month.

Mechanical Filtration?

Mechanical Filtration?

Does your chaetomorpha also serve as a mechanical filter?

In other words, as part of your weekly maintenance, do you clean or shake out the debris trapped in your chaetomorpha?

I turn it from time to time and the particles get trapped in the return pump's sponge. This I clean out.
