does anyone keep chaeto in their display tank? How much light would i need to grow it? may i see pics?

I'm thinking of adding some to my tank :D

thanks

will grow fine on small amount of light. but algae is suppose to grow under 24/7 lighting and really after a while it will take over your tank.

I've got a clump of chaeto in my display. Looks kinda nice in there and the fish pretty much leave it alone. My chaeto is growing fine with just a standard 10000K bulb.

What I do is when I do a water change, I take out the chaeto and swish it in the drained water to shake out any food or junk that has collected on it. Then I turn it over and put it back in the same place. Been working good so far.

You may lose some pods, etc. shaking it out, but it's not anything to worry about.

Also, chaeto won't take over your display tank. It doesn't attach to rocks like caulerpa does.

Fishstiks, what kind of lighting do you have on your tank? I imagine that you can add chaeto to the display without any worries.

I have 60 watts of NO t8 lighting on my 70 gallon. How do you keep chaeto down if it doesnt attach to rocks? Does it sink or would i have to tie it down?

I just wedged it in a corner and let it float around. Chaeto prefers to roll and tumble around, but it's not a huge deal if you stick it between a rock or something similar.
