Chaeto placement

I do not have a sump yet, but I received some chaeto and have it in my clear breeding box. My thoughts were that I could buy a breeding net and put it in there. Then the larger copepods would be stuck in there and when they breed, they would leave through the net. Are they too big to fit through the holes in the net when they are born? This may just be wishful thinking! Thanks!!

In theory, what you suggest is a good idea. In reality though, the cheato will grow so freakin' quick that it'll just get annoying being just up there in a breeder net. Lot's of trimmin' to be done. If you are still planning to get a sump, i'd go ahead and put it in the breeder net, it's certainly not going to hurt. As for pods being able to fit. the larger ones may not, depending on how fine of a mesh is used, but the pod nauplii will free swim their happy butts right out into the water column. pod babies are itty bitty bitty!
