Chaeto Question

My chaeto is not growing but hair algae is haha. I have a led light that is equivalent to 100 watts or so. It is in the middle portion of my sump so it gets plenty of flow. I have tried chaeto from 2 different people and they both end up dying on me. If the gha wasn't growing in my tank, I would be happy with chaeto dying off, but I would rather have chaeto growing in my fuge rather than in the dp.:headwalls: Any opinions?

Light is ran 24/7
I know I have a lot of rock.
I have about 1inch of sugar sized sand. I have thought a lot about taking that out.

Try changing your fuge light schedule to 12 on 12 off. I would also recommend having the fuge light on when the DT lights are off( opposite schedules). That will help to minimize the ph swing. I would also get rid of all that rock in the fuge, maybe keep a couple small pieces in there if you want, it just makes for a detritus trap!

I agree, dont run your fuge light all the time. I run mine 14 hours on ans 10 hours off. Cheato is a plant and needs to have darkness to grow.
