Chaeto turning white means??

I assume it is starving of nutrients and ready to kick the bucket... Is this true??

Mine turns white when it grows out the top of the refugium and gets burned by the lights. I'm not sure why else it would turn white, but it can't be good.

White or clear? Starving for light if it's on the bottom, nutrients if it's the majority of it. If it was most of it then it probably "went sexual", cells jumping ship to start their own ship later!

Just remove the white stuff and feed to your tangs...they will love it. Be sure to keep the rest under water and spread it often(loosen the mass). I spread and turn mine weekly. This keeps it from collecting to much gunk. Turning it will ensure its all getting a fair chance at light and the nutrient current.
