just wondering if it is what it actually looks like or not...
it is a redish brown type algae that seems to be covering my chaeto...it looks a lot like diatoms...
my tank is relatively new..been in operation for about 1.5 months...i added fish (one blue/green chromis) at about 1 month, i had a bit of a diatom bloom at 2.5 weeks..it pretty much cleared up with the addition of the cleanup up crew..
6 Narsarius, 1 turbo, 2 Astrea, 1 horseshoe, 2 blue legs, 2 Zebra, and 2 white leg
there are no more diatoms in the display...well there is a bit but it is on the back glass that i cant get too...dumb snaills havent found it yet..
water perameters are
amm - 0
Nitrites- 0
Nitrates - 12 ish
Ph - 8.0
Alk - 10
SG - 1.024 - .025
Temp - 79
so i added chaeto last week, one week after my chromis, it was nice and green things were good..now it has this purplish/redish/brown hairy slime growing on it...
do i worry about it? will the chaeto filter it out? should i add snails to my fuge aswell?
my fuge is a DIY about 4 gallons display is 20H tank.
the only other bioload in my tank if it even constitues any is a 3" frag of GSP. and a couple button polyps.
If they are diatoms in the chaeto will the chaeto be Okay? can i clean it some how? do i need to worry about it?
should i add snails and other such cleaners to the fuge?
thanx for time guys..and gals.
