Chalice coloration

I picked up a frag this weekend that is pictured in the first photo. I didn't get to see it til I got home since it was in a closed container. Will the coloration ever each the "before" or what's wrong with this chalice? Just stressed and under differen't lighting? I'm running T-5's (10k and 20k) and It's only slowly gained a green tint since yesterday.

Where'd that original picture come from? Did you buy this online? The discoloration is probably from the stress of shipping if you ordered from online. Also if the picture is from some online company, it's most likely photoshopped somewhat, so don't expect the exact same colors. Just nurse the chalice for a couple of days, and it should return to it's original state, whatever that was.

I picked it up from a frag swap and pre-ordered it from a well known coral aquaculture company. It's gaining some green tint as it was brown up until today. I was just worried I got sold a dead or near dead chalice.

It's not dead or even near dead. Looks to me this is primarily an issue of lighting. Try adding a magenta bulb (Fiji purple, purple plus, etc.) to your current setup and see if it helps.

Actually those are not the same coral. Is the one you got a frag of the original? seapug has good advice for coloration enhancement.

The seller showed they have a couple of this exact chalice. I was just not very happy once I got in my tank cause I was expecting a lot more. For a blue plating chalice even under full 20k it's still very dim looking and more green than anything.
