Chalice IDs

Big and Evil
This first one was sold to me from a LFS simply as a Tyree Chalice. It was browned out when I got it but as you can see now it is some sort of alien eye/watermelon or something like that. it grows with ring of lime green around it which you cant see in the pic because it grows at a 90 angle to the rest of the coral on top.

The second one was also sold as a Tyree with no name. The LFS just said it was a Tyree coral he got from another hobbiest. It is mostly light blue with pink eyes and pink highlights. The eyes are very small, but it seems to show more pink the more light it gets. This isnt the best pic of it because the pic was supposed to be just of the clown, but you can see it clear enough.

Both pieces are very large, in fact the second pic doesnt show one third of the coral, and I will be fragging them in the next few days. I just would like to know the names of them so I can tell the people who want to buy frags what they are.

First doesn't look like the tubs alien eye. Its probably some sort of wild watermelon. Niether looks like any tyree piece I know of.

I agree. If you didn't buy from a reliable source, theres no way to confirm. If you decide to frag and sell, I'd reccomend you don't label them as 'Tyree' corals.

I will not trust anybody that doesnt have an explination as to why they arent what they were sold to me as.

www.reeffarmers.com this is Tyree's website with his LE corals look for yourself...just becasue it has yellow eyes and a pink coloration doesn't make it a tyree coral...the watermelons he sells all have characteristic features such as color, pattern, and lineage being the most important

well its funny you would point me there. See I have a crappy camera and the pics really arent that great but my alieneye/watermelon looks almost exactly like this:

and alittle like this:

http://www.reeffarmers.com/limitedgoldeneye.htm

could be either one. See it was browned out when I got it and has been coloring back up.

The second one looks exactly like this coral:

The eyes on mine have always been small, but the frag I traded to a fellow reefer has its eyes widend out and looks 100% like that.

I wouldn't list them as tyree, but might link to the ones they look exactly like, in the sale thread, because yours do look exactly like those(seen em in person).
Also I would remember those who have been so generous to you in the past and pay them back in your own special way.

like with a cheap frag of the second Chalice I posted? or simply giving you your sweatshirt back? I would simply call them "golden eye chalice" and "dessert plate chalice" not tyree.

Yeah, I am going to be creating frags this weekend I think, but wont be looking to unload them till the heal over.

What's the price going to be? I would be interested; healing them is a very good thing before sale.
:D

I am going to wait and see how well they heal up and grow onto the frag discs before I decide what to sell them for. I am also not too sure I am going to ship them as I do not have any shpping materials. Right now I have 5 frags of each and 3 days after cut and glue they are all still alive. Some of them are VERY small though so I want to make sure they heal and grow out some before I do anything with them at all.

so you guys tell me: what do you think is a fair price for frags of these two chalices? I have some frags healing nicely right now, and all 5 of the dessert plate chalice frags are pretty much ready to go. Two of the watermelon (after further research I think it is rasta) are big and plump with 3 other smaller frags that I am waiting to grow out.
