One of my chalice frags is losing flesh for no apparent reason, has this happened to anyone else?My tank parameters are 7.85 dKH 420 Calcium 1600 Magnesium(trying to eliminate bryopsis) it sits on the sanded 12 inches under an AI Hydra running at 40%.
think its happened to all of us at some point. I recently lost one as well as a few other corals due to a spike in Alk. Still trying to save the rest of my coral.
Is it in direct light? how long was it in the tank? how old is the tank? Did any of your parameters change much in a short amount of time? Does the chalice get fed?
Also your mag might be a bit on the high side, not sure if that's the issue though.
It sucks when it happens .My system has been running for 1.5 yrs,I got it from Thien at Tidal Gardens late May this year and he called it a Lunar Chalice. As for feeding I broadcast feed oyster feast and phytoplankton a couple nights a week and they get direct feed a mix of Reefroids, cyclopeeze and mysis once a week.Oh yeah my nitrates and phosphates are undetectable and I run a Fuge with Caulerpa Prolifera.
Had the same thing happen, not sure what caused it but Revive dips and tons and tons of water changes helped. I did a triton test and Aluminum and Vanadium were sky high due to using ceramic media, my guess is it was that.
