Chalice on sand growing over disc

I have a chalice that is on the sandbed and it appears to be reachng the sand now and covering the disc. Do I need to put a rock/disc under it or just leave it as is on the sandbed?

You can just leave it on the sand i do and they just keep growing flat against the sand.
