I have 3 chalk bass in my 40 gallon tank. They don't school per se but hover over my reef. Two seem to stay fairly close to one another while the third is usually a few inches away.
They are very nice fish that are extremely hardy and are always out and about. However if you do pick up a group of these guys you will seem squabling every now and then about the hierarchy of the group, which in my tank will usually consist of opening their mouth at each other and sometimes giving each other a light peck on the "lips"
Thanks guys! The chalk bass was recommanded by a couple threads as possible schooling fish, I guess that is not the case. Do you have any picture of them in your tank? I would like to see which section of the tank they hang out at...!
I don't have any pix of them at the moment but they usually cruise in the upper half of my 40 breeder. As far as behaving with shrimp I wouldn't know...I have a hamlet that likes to snack on them between meals...
