That is EXACTLY why we named it that!

JCR - We named this single colony. Only a couple of us here in SD have it. I think a few frags have made it out, but not by any other name, AFAIK.

I purchased a frag of the Original Vivid Echinophyllia pictured here

and ended up looking just like yours.

that is definitely not the Pink Boobies. The eyes are similar but it is not the same. The Pink boobies gets a dark green rim and doesn't have any light colored blue to it. Unless i'm seeing your pic wrong? Pink Boobies is soooooo nice. But i also want a frag of the Vivid. They are both nice chalices.

I think it's safe to say that Yes! Ian is a Godfather in this here Coral Mafia, if not a Godfather than a very powerful Boss to say the least! Nice corals Bro! Wow!

wow everyome!!!! i havent been on in a while due to a tank crash, and i lost quite a bit of stuff. almost all my sps(73 species mostly LE), about half my chalice(9 or 10, most irreplaceble the ktar melting pot), a few of my rainbow acans and micro colonies, and my prized 5 year old elegance... i never figured out what it was, but i figure i must have had some bad salt cuz everything was testing totally fine..... well, i almost walked away, and am still contimplating it, as i just dont have the money to replace most of the stuff, and my collection was getting rather impressive.... i just ws looking here to see some inspiration, and i look and see all these beautiful chalices, and it just makes me sick, cuz i had alot of these....

beautiful pics, props to everyone...

I've personally seen the vivid echino (large chunk of it) and I think it may very well be the same coral, but since mine didn't come from vivid, we couldn't call it that. However, I do agree with Matt that mine doesn't have any bluish to the edge. Could be a slight variation, but enough to distinguish? Not sure yet. I'll snap some pics today of the various colors mine turns, depending on light and growth area.....

I too want to get a piece of the vivid, grow them side by side.

Steve, the two pieces from Rommel are different. One has a different color body and gets that really cool inner blue rim in the eyes, and then there is the one you just posted.

For example

you would be better to have it on a disc first if its a small frag just so it doesnt get blown around, but they grow excellent right on top of the sand. look pretty neat to, and really easy to frag.

Is there anything wrong with growing chalice on the sand substrate?
