Could switching from PVC to a rubberized flex hose be the cause of my many microbubbles?
I had this tank set up 2 yrs and broke it down six months ago.Ive now set it back up but instead of using 1" PVC on the drain/and 1/2" PVC on the return Im using the flex on both.
The bubbles do seem to originate from the returns.
Thanks!

No flex hose IS PVC.. Shouldn't have made any difference. I would look for a pinhole leak in the return plumbing or possibly slowing down the water in the sump.

Yes it could be flow in the sump. Are there bubbles in/near the return pump intake?

For flex PVC you should use something like Christy's Red Hot Blue Glue. Flex PVC is more prone to shrinkage/expanding with temp and age. The Blue Glue isn't as brittle as standard PVC glue and is made to accommodate the changes in flex PVC.
