Changing a female clownfish back to a male

Changing a female clownfish back to a male

Don't just toss the fella in there straight off! Give him time in view but protected. Watch for damage once he's introduced and pull him if something gets hurt. The proper courtship looks terrible but he shouldn't be hurt it injured.

I will be getting one of those boxes from petco and this will be done on a weekend so I will be home to watch them.
That is why I will be taking her out of her domain and change things around they say this helps when introducing any new fish it throws them off and they lose their dominant domain area of the tank. But I will be there to intervene if needed.

OK, this pairing did spawn and I am raising a small batch from them. Their second spawning, not a very large hatching. I scouped up 15 babies and 10 left. Basically I had a three inch female, atted a two and half inch female. the larger one I know is a female from her previous pairing. The two and a half inch fish I obtained from another reefer that reported she was spawning in her tank with a previous pairing. So I can't prove they were both female from personal observation I tend to believe what I was told when I aquired the fish, but this is not proof.

Side note Further reading showed that some fish species follow the model I described when switching sexes but clowns do not. They are not shorted part of a chromosome for some idividuals. Nice hint from the clown fish how sex may have evolved though.

Changing a female clownfish back to a male

I have one fry that is 1year and 4months old and has not grown very much at all he is about 1".
He is with two others that have grown some so I am going to assume that small one is a male just not sure about the other two.
One is a sibling and is about 2" but the other is not and I was trying to pair up the other two but does not look like they are pairing up.

These are the two I am trying to pair up. One is a True Perc but the other one with the large amount of white on the side of the body I think is an Ocellaris.
