I noticed one of my horses is changing color, it almost looks like hes trying to blend in. His pectoral fin isnt moving well, but hes still eating. (not really sure if hes a she or a he).

I have Kelloggi....:) Thanks guys

How long have you had the seahorse? It's widely surmised that the influx of Kelloggi are net-pen-raised, meaning they can have the same issues as WC seahorses as far as disease & parasites.

It's ok for a seahorse to lighten up a bit in color, but if the coloration is drastically changing and/or patchy (as mal40 said) I'd be a bit concerned.

Any chance you could post a pic?

No, she changed back to normal a few mins after posting. Keeps getting a bit lighter in spots around head, and changing back. Almost like shes trying to blend in, same color as the perch shes on.

Does anyone know anything about H. kelloggi??? I havent found much about them....

Lots of info on other websites.... you just need to search it out. Unfortunately, many that purchased the H. Kelloggi did not have success with them due to the reasons mentioned in my previous post. Best of luck and keep us all updated.

Is that your only seahorse, one of my males would flashe back and fouth light to dark for about thirty min. every morning to attract his female. They would then join tails and sort of dance. He will turn almost white, then back to grey. She is always light, so I think he tries to look like her. He did this for about a year. Sadly, I recently purchased a new seahorse that brought a flesh-eating bacteria into my tank and I lost my female. My male has not yet once changed color at all since her death. That has been at least three months ago. That is the only color change I have ever had.

I do have 2 horses, i believe they both be females, but perhaps they are too young still? And Tom, these are tank raised, not sure if thats the same or diff from net?

They are doing great :)

Seahorses changing colors are perfectly normal. Mine went from dark black to bright yellow in less then a week.

If it's going to a really light almost whitish color they're -could- be something wrong with it.
Could be disease, stress, lack of food, camoflague, or a multitude of other things.
