I currently use them and have since I started the tank. I change them once a week when I do my water changes but in cruising the forums it seems that people change them daily???? is once a week enough or should I be doing it daily?

And a pic just because.....

They can become nitrate factories, so if you start having issues change sooner. I change mine when the water starts overflowing the top. I have 2 4" in my sump. They last about a week. My nitrates are very low.

When i did use them i changed them every 3 days, not that they needed it because of clogging issues but because if you leave them in to long the stuff breaks down and can start causeing nitrates to rise. If you havent noticed that issue then your prob fine changeing them out once a week. Now i dont use them and just syphon the sump during a water change.

Doesn't look as tho you have algae issues, so you're doing fine. I change mine one every three days when I flip the cheatos and clean the skimmer cup.

Thanks for the advice. Nitrates remain low to ill keep an eye on them and change more often if they begin to rise

I was doing mine once a week but upped it to two. I was doing fine with once until I was foiled by an autofeeder mishap. Let your parameters and look of the tank guide you for changing frequency.

I really don't have a set time for changing them, the amount of particles in the water column, nirates, or overflowing are my indications.
