changing from canister filter to sump - so new at sump and all

Hi there. This is my first post. I'll start out by saying there is just a wealth of information here and it's pretty amazing all the support you have for each other.

We've had a 93 gallon cube for a few years now. We've done okay with fish and ananomes but not so much with corals except some mushrooms.

Above being said, we have decided to really step our game and enjoy the hobby a lot more. So, we've decided to ditch the filter, go the sump route, drill the tank, etc... Since I know that will involve one day taking the entire tank down, putting on a new stand I'm making moving the tank 4 feet and building everything else associated with that.

I'm building up a mock-up first of what it's going to look like, how the plumbing will go, etc... I've placed some foam board on the half finished stand and have taken some pictures to help with my questions.

The first photo is looking at the back of the tank inside the tank (well, if it was there) - I have two return lines - they are 1" with 3/4" loc line. Should have made the transition to 3/4" at the bulkhead vice inside the tank? None of this is permanent, so I can change. Also, do the return lines seem a bit low?

The second picture is the back of the tank. Are the two return lines too low? and based on the question above I anticipate changing them to 3/4" bulkhead fittings.

Thanks for all your help in advance and I know for a fact I'm going to have lots of questions as I build this.
