changing from fresh to salt

I have a 225 tank that is freshwater rigft now,that i would like to change to FO or FOWLR.Me set i have is a mag 18 in the sump running the pro-clear 300.Can i use the wet-dry for these set-ups?What type of substrate works the best?Can you use SB sand?And would a ASM g4plus be a good skimmer?I also have 2 6 foot VHOS for lighting

your setup sounds good. I wouldnt use play sand though. there was a company that sold aragonite playsand through home depot, but I do believe they are out of business now. I would go to the LFS and see what substrate they have and pick the one you like the best.of course you can always do a bare bottom tank and just pile up the live rock.
