I am replacing my 175 MH lights. I am planning to reduce my timimg of lights from 8 hours to 5 hours and increase it by 1 hour every week until I am back to 8 hours during the acclimation period. I have also added some new reflectors. I would like to avoid adding any screen cover during this period. My quetions is, How long does it take do see any coral bleaching occurs after the change to stronger lighting? Is it the next day or is it a slow build up and then it is too late? Any early indications?

a day or two....it happens quick. I would take pictures of your corals so you can compair them day by day. You may want to reduce the photo period a little more.

What MH bulb and ballast?

I have never had problems when replacing bulbs. The problem for you will be the addition of reflectors, that is what will make the light brighter and shock the corals.
