Changing salt types

Once you get the tank going is it OK to Change the salt type, Such as Instant Ocean to Reef Crystals or any other type?

Thanks

The only difference is the cal, mag, etc levels. But in the real ocean these can change with a change in currents.

I switch up my salt after every bucket is finished. It doesnt hurt or help anything.

I have heard that Seacham Reef Salt is good for maintaining trace element levels to avoid fluctuation on. A little pricier, but maybe worth it. I was wondering on this question also "brdracing". I currently use Instant Ocean & was thinking of switching, also. From what Sam said, looks like doing it slowly is best.

instant ocean is fine... there's very little benefit from one salt over another. You still have to test the water, and you still have to maintain the calc/alk relationship (if you keep a lot of stony corals). I use reefcrystals, but only because it's rather cheap.

Yeah, I think most of the salt mixes are good, just a personal preference on which one to use. I use Seachem Reef.
