Characteristics of lords

I am somewhat new to lords and micro's. But i noticed all lords dont act the same. Some puff out and stand up like zoanthids, and some just a little and some even less. They are all roughly in the same area and i cant figure out why the one isnt puffing out like the others. Its expanded at night and eating and looking good. I suspect it to be a japan lord because of its unusual coloration pattern. My micro's all puff out, and look very happy.
for example these lords dont puff out like te second pic.

The first example seems to be slightly damaged. This could be why it does not seem to expand like the others.

One thing I have found is that the frags seem to have the most extension, while the colonies are more relaxed. Perhaps this is because there is more stability in a colony than in a developing frag. This theory seems to be true in the case of your examples as well.

Two corals may be placed next to each other horizontally, but if there is an overhang above one, if the flow from a pump gets shielded by rock, one is close to a competing coral, etc. There are so many factors that can effect extension. Aside from the slight algae growth in the first picture, both your corals look great. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks, The first 2 were recently aquired and came in from shipping so i guess that could be a factor. The damage your refferring to.
The pic is 2 weeks old so they are still not crazy puffy like the first and the micro's, But eating well, and coloring back up.
Thanks for the info i appreciate it!!

Regarding the extension your speaking of, I've seen this in a huge colony of lords. Seriously this colong was about the size of a football and all the heads were extending and flowing. I thought it was pretty crazy looking.

I don't have an answer for you, but just something I witnessed.
