Hi Guys, I've already posted this on my own Aussie forum, but id thought id share the love with some international reefers. My tank is only in its humble beginnings, and i realise that its still got a long way to go, but I'm a pretty persistent kid, and the tank really does take up a lot of my time, and money, but i figure at 17, theres worse things i could spend my money on than little blue bottles of magic and a few coloured sticks!
Anyways, here are my specs;
Aim: To create a little slice of SPS heaven in my room, its a feature point and i want to get as much fun as i can out of the tank, whilst learning about keeping a reef.
Display: 2 foot cube, 60 gallons, 226 litres, 3 sided starphire, every edge polished, Rimless. External overflow with 2 holes drilled, and a seperate inlet in to the tank. The tank has blue perspex cut to fit the inside.
Sump: 40cm cube (approx) with Refugim, Skimmer, Return and Media (Live rock Rubble) and Anti Phos (soon to be Rowa Phos).
Skimmer: Skimz SK201 (It is a beast) and Return is just an Eheim Compact 3000, with a 200 Watt Jaegar Heater.
Cirulation: 3 X Moded 6015, overall flow in the tank is 60Xwater volume.
Stand: Flush Modern Stand, 2 Pac white.
Hood: Rimless and seamless, all the way. But there is a lighting stand.
Lighting: 6 X 24W ATI SunPower
3 X KZ Blue Plus
2 X KZ New Gen
1 X Fiji Purple
I used 20KG of Bahamas Oolite for my substrate, and some live rock and fake rock to scape. Ive always been inspired by bonsai scapes, as well as reef ledges and sloping scapes, so I've tried to combine the two, what do you think?
Chemical Support:
Easy as 1,2,3 (Effectively Randy's) run with Kamoer Dosing pump.
ZEO Coral Snow
Coral Vitalizer
K Balance
B Balance
Feed Live Baby Brine 2 Times Weekly
Fish/Inverts:
1 Royal Gramma
1 Yellow Tang ( I know, I know)
2 Red Line Cleaner Shrimp
1 Blood Shrimp
Lastly:
Ca: 420
Mg: 1240
KH: 8
PO4:0.02
Nitrate: 0
A massive shout out to all the people that inspired me, and my mates Ryan (ryanrid) and Rod (rodneryi) for help all a long the way!
Its been a pretty tough road setting it up, and its been hard to find the time balancing grade 11 and my tank, but the tank always wins!
So finally here are the pictures.
Thanks for looking, please give me some feedback, i know the tanks really young, and ill continue trying to get some more frags over the next few months and then let the tank grow out.
