charter dvr vs. tivo

yeah I know dert, but for all intents and purposes of this thread, DVR = charter DVR


IM going to try calling TIVO tomorrow and talking them down to 10/month, if that works I got the go ahead from the better half

We haver Tivo and absolutely love it. The charter interface is sooooo slow compared (friend has it) that it would drive me crazy.

We bought our Tivo with the capability to burn disks of our shows and bought the lifetime service with it(they dont offer it anymore) and we are now in the black after a few years with no monthly fees

I couldnt live without my Tivo, and for kids movies we have HBO family and record all the kids stuff we want and burn them onto disks for drives

it looks like it will cost $399 for the box and 3 years of service with TIVO

this is with a $30 box upgrade to one that can do 2 records and 1 view at the same time (mandatory IMO)....works out to like 11.09/month and the box is paid for and I own it

the website says that with a package, the box is shipped pre-setup, so no phone line is necessary when bought directly from them

sounds like a good deal to me

stlguy, you're right. the menus are PAINFULLY slow!

maybe off the subject but when i got dish network earlier this year i got dual dvr recorder so that is 100hrs per two tv's which adds up to 200hrs total for my house and i pay no monthly fees for the setup and is mine to keep if need be.
