Have you seen it yet? I have watched it 3 times now. Everyone needs to see it. and the HD and 4k streams are stunning. you will need a box of tissues.
I watched it and it was interesting. I like how they explored the life of the reef and sadly death but also included the technical aspect of having to capture images under the sea. I love working with my hands and creating things from scratch. Sadly I'm not doing much these days with my Mechanical Engineering degree The part where he corals turn crazy fluorescent colors is very interesting. I don't think their explanation is 100% correct as there are more factors than just temperature involved but I understand why hey didn't try to explain the chemistry to the non reef hobbyist folk. What those corals are doing seems to be exactly what corals in a ultra low system would do. That explains why so many fail. It's a very fine line between life and death.
I agree. I'm not a scientist nor a certified reef expert. But I was a little put off by the heavy push on global warming. Personally not totally convinced. And focusing almost exclusively a 2-3 temp swing. Most of us reefers experience 6-8 degree swings depending on the time of year and region we live in. I normally have a 2-3 degree daily and I know this also happens daily in nature. I think there are a lot of other factors and would rather these typo of semi documentaries expound a little more than possibly just pushing one or two agendas. I'm sure there are many other factors that cause this.
I remember many many years ago when they talked about the ozone layer depleting and could never be replaced. Turned out to be wrong. Mother Nature is a powerful beast. Granted we shouldn't abuse her to the degree we do. She will put us in our place one day.
I like the old boring days of news. This is what happened, that's all we know at this time.
