cheap auto top off

well after putting my 55g under the 125g i realized that i dont have much romm if any at all for top offs and im wondering what would be a good cheap option? the only thing i can think of is using a dosing pump and 5g bucket the pump will only be like $10 ... u think thatll work?? got a better idea??

i've got an 18 gallon rubbermaid container next to my tank with a whole and fitting drilled into the side bottom. Then i use airline hose to a float valve that i've got in the sump. gravity fed. Really really easy! I paid $10 for the float valve. that was it. good luck!

yeah i would def recommend the aqualifter, awesome and inexpensive.

but heres a cheaper float valve, only thing is you have to make sure you have no snails if its a refugium because if a snail climbs on it it will keep it on till he gets off.

The real +++ to the one I recommended is that it comes with a bracket and its all wired up with a plug to turn on/off the aqua lifter. No wiring needed.

would the aqua lifter work if i slowed it down to match the evaporation the best i could??

you would be better off just putting a float switch in the sump so that you don't have to try to match it which will be almost impossible. they are cheap and easier to setup. then hook the aqualifter up to the switch

The aqualifter is kinda noisey. Sounds like a air pump. I would not want it running 24/7. I think its better to have it go on every hour or so for 20 seconds.
