Cheap LED Light 48inch Tank

I have the orbit Marine on a 12" deep tank and it is fine. I only have SPS and get good growth. They are programmable and also have cool features like storms and partial sun features. However, I do agree that you will need 2 over a 24" wide tank.

If you go blackbox I heard great things about SB Reeflights.

You have no idea how glad I am to read this after all the posts I have read about people saying my lights aren't strong enough for SPS.

Unless they have changed the diodes in these lights they are not good for a marine tank of more then 12 inches. The diodes are not powerful enough to reach the bottom of the tank with good par values...

I have seen a few you-tube videos. So as far as i know even two will not give you the par values you need on the very bottom of say a 24 inch deep tank . But i do not have them nor have used them so this is going by what i have read..
IF someone has them and corals doing well in the bottom of a 24 in tank i have yet to see or hear about it...

The way I see it though I should get good enough PAR at the top of the tank which I were I would like to keep SPS. I keep Kenya tree and star polyps at the bottom right now and they do very well.

It's a good thing the original post said 12" max depth.

I don't think there'll be a problem in this tank (assuming the light is placed within 6" of the water surface)
